Crossroads psychology founder Renaty Layton

Renaty Layton

Renaty is a counselling psychologist with over twenty years experience in both the private and community sectors. Renaty’s professional journey began as a student aid, extending into work with the Department of Human Services in child protection and later as an outreach worker. In 1998, Renaty founded Impact Youth and Family Counselling providing counselling for young people and their families. This service was co-located with other youth services, creating a one-stop-shop tailored for young people aged 12-25 years.

Recognising the need for comprehensive support, Renaty established Sensational Kids in 2007, the first multidisciplinary therapy clinic in Australia for neurodiverse children and youth. Her visionary approach passionately brought together a spectrum of healthcare professionals under one roof, streamlining access and fostering collaboration for unparalleled support and results.

Renaty's journey extended globally to Vancouver, Canada, where she practised as a psychologist at Eaton Arrowsmith, a specialised school for individuals with intellectual difficulties. Her role spanned supporting students aged 6 to 60 years of age and assisting parents with the transition from here into mainstream and alternative educational programs. Her work has also included developing and facilitating group programs for individuals experiencing mental health issues, social difficulties and developmental challenges; as well as parent and sibling groups for families with neurodiverse children.

Upon returning to Australia, Renaty founded Crossroads Therapy and Support Services, embodying her experiences, passions, and a commitment to comprehensive care. Renaty promotes collaboration and believes in the integration of counselling with schools and healthcare professionals for optimal outcomes.

Crossroads is an inclusive space open to all ages and stages of life. Renaty’s diverse background and training has equipped her with the flexibility and skills needed to guide her clients through a broad range of concerns; and to empower them to make the changes they want in their lives.
