Renaty Layton

Renaty is a dedicated counselling psychologist with over 25 years experience, holding Masters Degrees in both Counselling Psychology and Special Education. In her practice she works with adults, children, adolescents and families dealing with a range of presentations, which include, but are not limited to: anxiety, body image, communication, depression, eating disorders, grief, parenting issues, personal growth, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, stress, and trauma.

With a client-centred, strengths-based, and solution-focused approach, Renaty tailors each session to meet your unique needs and goals. She employs a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Renaty’s therapeutic approach is characterised by empathy and collaboration, rooted in a genuine commitment to helping clients discover their inner strengths. Her practice is a place where you will feel heard, understood and validated without judgement. In her sessions, Renaty will help you delve into repressed memories of underlying traumas while also providing effective coping strategies and homework to unlock deeper insights into your patterns and reactions, fostering lasting change.

Renaty’s extensive career highlights her dedication and innovation in the field. She founded and led a youth and family counselling service in 1998, established Australia's first multidisciplinary clinic, Sensational Kids, for neurodivergent children and families in 2007, and practised internationally in Vancouver, Canada where she supported individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. She is also a recognised provider with the Butterfly Foundation, specialising in supporting individuals and families navigating eating disorders and body image concerns.

Renaty understands that life can be complex. Her diverse background and training has equipped her with the flexibility and skills needed to guide her clients through a broad range of concerns and empower them to make the changes they want in their lives. She strongly believes that the therapist-client relationship should be a collaborative one to ensure best clinical practice and achieve optimal outcomes.

“I want to meet people where they are at in life to help them achieve their goals, feel good about themselves and their relationships. Being a psychologist is a privilege and I would be honoured to start this journey with you as we work towards discovering your best self.”
